5 year Anniverary on May 12 !!

WOW!

Where has FIVE YEARS gone to??! But these past five years have been some of
the BEST in my life..all because of my little shop - The Purple Sock!!

It has been five years of learning, growing, giving classes, making
samples, meeting some of the most amazing knitters, spinners and weavers and
other fibre artists as well and making many wonderful new friends. Five
years of creating fun and funky windows, learning my way around the
Internet, creating a blog and now, a website!! www.thepurplesock.ca which is
still a work in progress but it is coming.

But mainly, these past five years have been so amazing because of YOU, my
loyal, supportive, and terrific customers!

So, to say a huge "Thank You", I am giving a party! There will be treats (
and of course, tea), door prizes, and just a general day of fun and
camaraderie. My suppliers have been super generous and I have some fabulous
surprises tucked away just waiting to be won and enjoyed and 'ooh'd and
awe'd" over.... everything from full sweater kits, to incredible skeins of
yarn, to adorable notions, you name it, I am giving it away!

So, please join me on Saturday, May 12th from 10AM til 5PM....come in and
say 'Hi", have a cup of tea and some home-baked goodies, fondle all the
wonderful yarns and try your luck at winning some SUPER PRIZES!

I will also be offering 10% off storewide on any purchases made that day,
there will also be a bin of clearance yarns that are 25% off .

Thanks for making this FIVE YEAR ANNIVERSARY happen...I appreciate it so
much, you have made a dream of mine come true!

Izzy Dolls and the Nursing Students from Georgian college

Well, the Purple Sock ladies have done it again! When the call went out this year from the Nursing Students at Georgian College in Barrie for more "Izzy Dolls" to travel to the Dominican Republic, we wondered if we could top the "bevy of beautiful babies" we sent last year.

But "no worries" as they say..not only did we surpass the total of last year(254) but THIS YEAR - ( drumroll please) we were able to send 282!
And in addition, we also answered their call for cotton wash clothes and sent along 158 colourful and pretty ones...great for washing little faces and hands.

It is so gratifying to see this result, but I must say that one lady in particular deserves an award for her passion, compassion and diligence as she made TWO HUNDRED Izzy Dolls all on her own! Can you imagine that? In one of the photos where the Izzy Dolls are all laid out on the oval table....those ALL belong to Ruth from Midland ....a tip of the hat to you!

So, I thank you all for your generosity, your compassion and your thoughtfulness...these little ones have nothing, and judging from the photos which the nursing students brought back to us last year, there will be 282 more children carrying an Izzy Doll around with them, tucked under an arm, or in a pocket, or slipped under the covers with them at night...that thought just makes me smile.

If you get a chance, stop by the store and see the photos from last year, and as soon as the students are back from the Dominican, we will have a new batch for you to see as well. Thanks again.

Happy Knitting!
